A hit in 2009, Imaginary Theatre's Tashi returns to Wollongong with two brand new tales: Tashi and the Big Stinker and Tashi: The Swan and the Dragon.
Tashi tells the best stories ever! The hero of a series of popular children’s books, Tashi, is a young boy, from a small village very far away and he loves telling his best friend Jack all about his extraordinary adventures before he came to Australia. Imaginary Theatre’s magical adaptations of Anna and Barbara Fienberg’s stories bring together mesmerising performances, rich imagination and vibrant storytelling. Two tales are presented together with a short break between - perfect theatre fun for the whole family.
Tashi and the Big Stinker
When Tashi’s village is threatened by the hungriest giant of them all – Chintu’s Only Brother – Tashi is sent to the giant’s castle to see if something can be done. There he finds that Mrs Chintu is also furious with Only Brother, he’s got her cooking for him day and night! Tashi will have to come up with one of his most cunning plans…. This stinker of a story will have everyone rolling with laughter as a progression of clever tricks, traps and ploys ensnare Only Brother in one embarrassment after another!
Tashi: The Swan and the Dragon
The very first Tashi story! Jack’s new best friend comes from a small village very far away and he tells the most amazing stories of all. This one is about how he flew to Australia on the back of a swan and how he managed to escape from one of the last dragons on earth. Let Jack, Tashi and Jack’s Mum and Dad take you into a world of astonishing adventures where learning to be clever and courageous is more important than being big and powerful.
“Imaginary Theatre Company uses a technique of introducing little children to the concept of theatre that is supremely effective and, I suspect, unique. … the older members of the audience enjoyed it as much as their littlies – and I did.” - Alison Cotes review “A Little Gossip” 28 September, 2009
Suitable for ages 4 – 10.
